Greetings!
Nick Foley here, creator of The New Arcadian....
From 2011 to 2012, I wrote a newsletter called The Basic Liberty Letter, sent to a small audience that found me mostly through my YouTube videos and my Twitter account. The Basic Liberty Letter was very enjoyable to write and share, but life got in the way, in the best way possible. I got married, left New York City (after living there for almost 9 years), travelled with my wife, eventually ending up in the free(ish) state of New Hampshire, and helped make two amazing kids. I’ve worked in the Bitcoin industry doing customer support since 2015, which has been a life-changing career experience.
The Basic Liberty Letter was my way of moving the needle towards human freedom a little bit, by offering observations, perspective, and philosophy.
With the state of the world as it is today, the desire to share my truth with you and have a conversation about a better future has never felt more important and pressing. This is why I’m rebooting the Basic Liberty Letter and calling it The New Arcadian.
Why “New Arcadian?” Arcadia itself means many things. It’s both a real historical location in ancient Greece, as a mythical one in legend and culture, home to the Gods Hermes and Pan. Arcadia is sometimes described as utopian. Merriam Webster defines Arcadia as “a region or scene of simple pleasure and quiet.” And since we’re starting something new, we’ll call it the New Arcadian.
Current events, culture, finance, politics, hobbies, bitcoin, alternative history, conspiracy theories – you may come across this and more in The New Arcadian.
If you haven’t already, please subscribe to The New Arcadian here. Also, feel free to peruse all previous newsletters from both the The New Arcadian as well as the Basic Liberty Letter in the Archive here. And if you like it, please donate.
Thank you so much visiting and supporting The New Arcadian.
